Succumb to the delectable thrill of voyeurism and take a peek behind the walls of The Slow, a new Canggu based joint from two of the brains that first gifted your skinny pegs Ksubi. For the first time in a decade, George Gorrow and Gareth Moody have joined in union to meticulously craft their own brand of shelter. The Slow is the pair’s first foray into hospitality and it’s laced with their own personal breed of style, set to dance across all of your senses. The architectural design is described by Gorrow as ‘Tropical Brutalism’ and is a beautiful juxtaposition of traditional Balinese textures combined with the designers’ contemporary influence.
The hotel’s art is enough of an attraction in itself and comes from Gorrow’s personal collection. It’s a mixed media cocktail of photography, sculpture, and artwork by names like Johnathan Zawada, Chris Searle, Ozzie Wrong and Madsaki. The restaurant arm of the establishment is helmed by head chef Shannon Moran, whose previous experience includes Pharmacy and Nobu. For those looking to rest their bones for an evening or seven, drop some Rupiah on either a Pool or Grand suite. Both feature floor-to-ceiling windows, furniture crafted from local sources and the sweet seduction of temporary affluence. But, it’s the latter that truly entices with the addition of a plunge pool and walk-in rain shower.See more
